Demonstrating an approach to treating somatic dysfunction of the sacrum.

The material presented in this workshop has been published in the Journals of The American Academy of Osteopathy (Sept '98) and The Australian Osteopathic Association (1997).

This seminar has been well attended by Osteopaths in Sydney, Melbourne, Dublin and New Zealand.

Each Seminar includes:

• Review of sacral anatomy, mechanics and diagnosis
• Treatment of sacral dysfunction using a Respiratory assisted Muscle Energy Technique.
• To ensure individual attention there are two lecturers: Keri Moore and BJ Field.
• Each the seminar will be restricted to 18 participants to insure individual attention.
• All participants will receive a copy of all overheads and a copy of the journal article.

Aim:

To improve skills in sacral anatomy, diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives:

By the completion of this seminar participants will:

• be able to discuss lumbar and pelvic, sacral anatomy and mechanics.
• be able to assess sacral dysfunction and identify upper and lower pole restrictions of movement.
• be able to discuss his/her understanding of the biomechanical principles behind the Respiratory assisted Muscle Energy Technique.
• be able to demonstrate a degree of competence in the application of the Respiratory assisted Muscle Energy Technique.

Active participation

Session one is a lecture with a practical component. Sessions two includes a quiz, completed in small group discussion, which is designed to confirm participants understanding of biomechanical concepts behind the diagnosis and technique.

There are two lengthy practical sessions where participants will be fully engaged in diagnostic and technique application.
